Business Procedure Update Amid COVID-19

To Our Valued Customers,

As the situation with Coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to develop, the safety and health of our team and our customers is top priority at this time. Our business world is evolving rapidly, and it is important to us that we keep you updated with any changes as quickly as we are able.

UPDATE FOR OFFICES LOCATED WHERE "STAY AT HOME" ORDERS ARE IN PLACE. All Security 1st Title offices will remain open for business to support the products and services we provide as we are considered an "Essential Business" for real estate and banking activities.

Below is an update on what Security 1st Title is doing to keep our customers and our team safe while continuing to deliver the services you depend on.

Our Staff:

  • Will be required to stay home if they experience any illness symptoms, especially if associated with Coronavirus (COVID-19).
  • May be asked to work remotely, and will be available for you via email and phone.

Our Facilities:

  • Doors will be locked at this time. Access is restricted to required parties with appointments only in order to maintain the recommended social distance. Please call our office upon arrival for entry.
  • Will continue to accept executed contracts and earnest money. Please utilize drive-up windows, and drop boxes, if available.
  • We will continue to frequently clean and disinfect surfaces throughout our offices, with special attention and treatment given to high traffic areas.

Our Title Work:

  • Currently, we will continue to furnish title work with normal turn-time. If we transition to remote working situations, please expect delays.
  • Special forms may be required due to public records access restrictions in certain jurisdictions. These forms are to notify the insured of specific risks that have presented themselves at this time regarding access to public records and recording timelines that may be lengthened due to temporary schedule changes at the public record offices.

Our Closing Process:

  • We do have e-sign capabilities available for documents that do not require a notary, subject to lender approval.
  • For documents requiring a notary, we provide the following options:
  1. ON PREMISES – We ask the signor to wait in their vehicle until the time of their signing. When they enter our office, they will be escorted directly to the closing room. Our closing staff will remain at the recommended safe distance from all parties at all times and perform the closing and notarize the documents in the room. New pens will be furnished for each closing. NOTE: Access is restricted at this time to only the required parties involved in the transaction. Our facilities are currently locked and you will need to call our office for entry.

  2. CURBSIDE – The signing parties may choose to remain in their vehicle. They can call our office to notify our closing staff where they are parked, and a member of our closing team will greet them at their vehicle, witness the execution of their documents, and notarize their signature after verifying their ID.

  3. MOBILE NOTARY – The signing parties can inform our closing staff of their location, and a mobile notary will be employed to greet them at that location, when available in that area. Additional fees will apply.

Because this situation is evolving every day, if you have an upcoming closing, we ask that you communicate with your closing office on the best procedures for executing your closing at that time. We are evaluating and providing solutions on a case by case basis.
